Major works of Romanesque book illumination

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The main works of Romanesque book illumination are those illuminated manuscripts that were created in the Romanesque period and are highlighted in art-historical literature as works of particular artistic rank (see especially the general overviews given in the literature list).

Starting around the late 11th century, based on the architecture, the European art styles, which were also regionally different, were summarized as Romanesque . The transition to Gothic book illumination took place with time delays in different regions. While the style change in France and England began at the end of the 12th century, Romanesque forms remained dominant in Germany until around 1300.
