Major works of late antique illumination

The main works of late antique book illumination are those illuminated manuscripts that were created in late antique times and are highlighted in art historical literature as works of special artistic importance.

The number of illustrated works that has survived is low due to the loss of books in late antiquity . From the late antique book art developed in the Eastern Roman Empire , the Byzantine Illumination and put this on. A clear stylistic separation from the main works of Byzantine illumination is not possible because of the continuity of style.
