The variation of the pronunciation of the word "house" in the Germanic varieties.

The Hus-Haus line is an isogloss in the West Germanic dialect continuum . It separates several areas of different dialects from one another, for example Swabian from Lower Alemannic in Baden-Württemberg or Lower Alemannic in Alsace or Lorraine from Palatinate . To the south and west of the line you say Hus or Huus in dialect , and on the other side you use the standard German house .

The approximate course of this line is marked by the towns of Wertach - Isny - Ravensburg - Tuttlingen - Villingen-Schwenningen - Freudenstadt - Pforzheim - Ettlingen - Weißenburg . Between the Danube and the Neckar source , this line meets the mähet - mäh (n) line .

In the north there is a corresponding line from Eupen (Belgium) via Fulda, Göttingen, Berlin to Frankfurt (Oder). The Hus area continues to Scandinavia and Scotland.
