history

The manor and outer bailey, protected by moats, dates from the 15th century. It emerged from a fortified house and was expanded and supplemented several times over the centuries. A renovation took place from 1958 to 1964.

The Fürth house belongs to Count Spee . It is privately owned and inhabited.

Monument description

The building was entered under No. 090 on January 23, 1987 in the list of architectural monuments in Korschenbroich .

The former moated castle "Haus Fürth" from the 16th century consists of the manor house and the associated service areas.
The two-story mansion stands on a cross-shaped floor plan . The wings on the side of the ditch are half-timbered and have hipped gable roofs . The manor house is the oldest part of the building (16th century). On the site of the former outer bailey in the southeast of the manor house are the farm buildings from the 19th century, dated in the Torkeilstein with the year 1833. This is a classic three-winged estate complex consisting of a grain barn, farm barn and cattle shed, which are simple functional buildings in brick were listed. The cattle shed was modernized in 1960, accompanied by changes, especially on the facade facing the courtyard , but these do not affect the facility.
The central, covered manure site is also part of the courtyard as a typical feature of the closed estate. In the southeast, an older half-timbered barn joins the transverse barn at an obtuse angle (partly former servants' house ). The former barn and the pigsty have been partially converted for residential purposes.
The gatehouse in the northwest of the plant, built on the site of the former outer bailey, the central gable has a combined coat of arms of sandstone (Mirbach / tuna) with the year 1895th
Haus Fürth is the last timber-framed moated castle in the Rhineland . The mansion was built on a cross-shaped floor plan. The stepped gables , which were contemporary around the time of construction , are still preserved today.
The half-timbered building was erected on solid bases made of Liedberg sandstone . The “Haus Fürth” complex still shows the old two-part construction principle. The manor house in the northeast is joined to the southwest by the area of the outer bailey, which has a large farm yard.
Today's farm yard is of decisive importance for the entire complex, as it continues the type and location of the old outer bailey and thus continues to illustrate the two-part structure of the “Fürth” moated castle. Both parts of the castle are surrounded by a common moat with an irregular trapezoid shape.
The entire "Haus Fürth" complex, consisting of the manor house and the farm buildings, is significant within the meaning of Section 2 (1) of the NRW Monument Protection Act . There are historical, architectural and scientific reasons for its preservation and use.
As Liedberg's former knight's fief, "Haus Fürth" is also of great importance in terms of local history.
