location

The house is located on the corner of Rue des Avocats and Rue du Congrès in the Bourg district in the south of Châtillon-sur-Seine . It borders directly to the south with the Hôtel du Congrès , where the Châtillon Congress was held in 1814 .

description

The house consists of several building parts, which are spread around two courtyards . The western courtyard is accessible through a carriage driveway on Rue du Congrès .

The listed components include the facades and roofs of the main building, which face the garden, courtyard and Rue des Avocats , as well as the hexagonal stair tower , the kitchen fireplace and the fountain .

history

The city palace was probably built in the second quarter of the 17th century. The fountain is dated 1646 and shows the coat of arms of the Rémond family ( red shield with three golden roses ). The client could have been Edme Rémond , royal lawyer in the Bailliage Châtillon , or Claude Rémond , lieutenant-général of the Baillage and representative of the Third Estate in the Provincial Assembly of Burgundy . Before the outbreak of the French Revolution , the property belonged to Pierre-Hilaire-Joseph de Bruère from Vaurois , Herr von Rocheprise and Brémur-et-Vaurois and Lieutenant-général of the Bailliage . He lived there with his two sons, Pierre-Joseph-Rosalie de Bruère , adviser in the Parlement of Burgundy, and Hector-Joseph de Bruère , who was mayor of Châtillon and representative of the Côte-d'Or department in the Chamber of Deputies during the Restoration .
