Haus des Grauens (alternative title Paranoic - Haus des Grauens , original title Paranoiac ) is a horror film from 1963 , directed by Freddie Francis for Hammer Films . The German-language premiere took place on May 10, 1963.
action
At the funeral of Eleanor Ashby's parents, a miracle happens: The son of the family, believed dead for eight years, suddenly appears out of nowhere. Tony had thrown himself off the cliff with suicidal intent, but his body was never found. After the mentally unstable Eleanor could never really deal with this misfortune, she is now in seventh heaven.
Simon Ashby is not enthusiastic about the mysterious return of his brother from the realm of the dead, because after all, the generous inheritance is now to be divided among the siblings. He suspects fraud and actually manages with his research to get the swindler exposed. Simon makes a terrible discovery in the cellar vaults of the family property. Hidden in the walls, he finds Tony's missing corpse and thus reveals a dark secret from the past.

The film was released on DVD in December 2008 as part of Koch Media's Hammer Collection in German-speaking countries.
criticism
The lexicon of international films describes the film as "a partly skilfully constructed and staged horror story that creates some tension with the usual, sometimes somewhat morbid genre effects."
