Heather Oakes (born Hunte ; born August 14, 1959 in London ) is a former British sprinter .
At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, she won the bronze medal behind the teams from the GDR and the Soviet Union as the starting runner of the British 4 x 100 meter relay together with Kathy Smallwood-Cook , Beverley Goddard and Sonia Lannaman . She won another Olympic bronze medal in the relay in 1984 in Los Angeles behind the teams from the United States and Canada. This time Oakes was the final runner behind Simmone Jacobs , Kathy Cook and Beverley Goddard.
She celebrated further international successes as a silver medalist in the 60-meter run at the World Indoor Athletics Games in Paris in 1985 and starting for England as a winner in the 100-meter run and in the 4 x 100-meter relay at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh.
Heather Oakes is 1.63 m tall and weighed 64 kg during her playing days. She started for the Haringey Athletic Club. Her husband Gary Oakes won the bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles at the 1980 Olympic Games .
