Heavenwood

Heaven Wood is a Portuguese metal band in 1992 by Ernesto Guerra ( vocals ), Ricardo Dias ( guitar ), Mario Lui Lemos (guitar), Rui Santos ( bass ; committed 1995 suicide ), João Soares ( keyboard ) and Jose Barbosa ( drums ) in Vila Nova de Gaia was founded under the name Disgorged and originally played death metal .

history

After bassist Rui Santos took his own life in 1995 and was replaced by Bruno Silva , they changed their name to Heavenwood and signed a contract with the German metal label Massacre Records . At the same time the music style changed towards Gothic Metal .

In 1996 the debut album Diva was released under Massacre Records. Shortly thereafter, the band went on tour with Atrocity , Theater of Tragedy and Lake of Tears . The band played in almost all of Europe . The second album, Swallow, was released in 1998. Liv Kristine ( Leaves' Eyes ) and Kai Hansen (including Helloween / Gamma Ray ) joined the band as guest musicians for the recordings . The band went on a European tour to promote the album.

Between 2001 and 2003 all of the band's work was on hold. A fixed line-up was no longer available and the members played as session musicians in other bands.

In 2007 the band got together again, signed a record deal with Recital Records and in 2008 released their third studio album called Redemption . Guest musicians such as Tijs Vanneste ( Oceans of Sadness ), Gus G ( Firewind ), Jeff Waters ( Annihilator ) and producer Daniel Cardoso (including Re: Aktor ) joined in for this work .

In March 2011 the album Abyss Masterpiece followed , which in turn was recorded as a trio with guest musicians in the Portuguese studio "USStudios", but was mixed and mastered by Kristian Kohlmannslehner in the German coal cellar studio .
