She first had her breakthrough as a child star in Sweden in 1970 with Mitt Sommarlov , a song in Swedish based on the melody of La Golondrina .
She became known to German-speaking audiences in 1971 when, at the age of ten, she and Roy Black recorded the title It's beautiful to be in the world . She sang this song with Roy Black in the movie When my baby hits the drum ; it was also in the film Pediatrician Dr. Happy to hear and turned into a huge hit. Anita and Roy received gold twice for this title. Radio Luxemburg's golden lion and the golden record for more than 1 million records sold. The following year they both sang the song “In love and happy and cheerful”, which sold 750,000 times.
At Roy Black's side, Hegerland also took part in the comedy Alter Kahn and Young Love (1973). In the years that followed there were isolated musical duets.
After she had a guest appearance with Mike Oldfield on the single Pictures in the Dark at the side of Aled Jones and Barry Palmer , she was Oldfield's partner from 1987 to 1991. They have two children together. She lives in Norway with her current partner.
In addition to the vocal appearances on the Mike Oldfield albums Islands and Earth Moving , she released a solo CD called Voices on the label "Virgin" in 1994 , for which she was able to win over well-known musicians such as Nik Kershaw , Howard Jones and John Uriel.
For the 40th anniversary of the title It's Nice to Be in the World , she re-recorded it in a heavy metal version together with Chris Boltendahl and the musicians of the band Grave Digger . This version was released on October 21, 2011.
