Heidi Vater (born July 7, 1966 in Apolda ) is a former German soccer player and coach .

Career

In terms of sport, father began playing tennis at a young age, made it into the GDR selection, and with nine titles from 1981 to 1989 is the GDR record champion in women's doubles . From 1985 to 1990 she studied history and sports in Jena and came through this study to football. In 1987 she began playing football at what was then HSG Jena (from 1990 USV Jena) and played actively until 2005 at FF USV Jena - as the club called itself from 2003 - as a player-coach . In 1990 she was a member of the GDR national team under coach Bernd Schröder , who played their only international match against the national team of the ČSFR . A year later, father became champion of the Oberliga Nordost with the USV Jena and thus the last East German women's soccer champion.

Due to a knee injury, she had to end her active sports career in 2005 and became the club's coach. She had already received the Trainer C license from the DFB in 1999 , before she received the B license in 2006. In 2007 she acquired the A license.

In the DFB-Pokal 2009/10 the FF USV Jena achieved its greatest success with the entry into the final, which was lost against the FCR 2001 Duisburg with 0: 1. After the end of the season, father resigned as a coach.

At the same time, she worked as a teacher for sports and history at the sports high school in Jena , where she was responsible for special sports training for girls. Since the 2012/13 school year she has been teaching sports and history at the Angergymnasium Jena .
