history

In 1959 the foundation stone was laid for the Heilig Kreuz church on Kirchstrasse (later renamed Handelstrasse), and on September 11, 1960, it was consecrated by Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen . First a parish vicarie Hl. Kreuz was set up, from which the Catholics in Jeinsen , Rössing and Schulenburg were looked after. Later came Barnten added. In 1975 the parish vicarie was elevated to a parish. In 1987 the interior was renovated, combined with a redesign of the chancel. From January 1st, 2009 the church belonged to the parish of the Holy Spirit in Sarstedt, on April 14th 2012 the church was profaned by Bishop Norbert Trelle . The property with the former church building was sold to private owners on July 1, 2014.

Architecture and equipment

The church, which is almost 75 meters above sea level , was built as a single nave nave with a gable roof. The historic crucifix was on loan from Ernst August von Hannover , the Way of the Cross from 1990 came from Sieger Köder . After the profanation, the six-register organ came to the Protestant village church of Bücknitz from 1960/1961 , some other items of equipment such as the altar and tabernacle went to a burnt-out church in Poland. The statue of the Virgin went to the Holy Trinity Church in Ruthe , the Easter candlestick to the Holy Spirit Church in Sarstedt.
