Sieger Köder (born January 3, 1925 in Wasseralfingen , † February 9, 2015 in Ellwangen ) was a German Catholic priest and artist . Köder is one of the most famous German painters of Christian art and nativity scene builders of the 20th century. He was considered a powerful and colorful “preacher with pictures”.

Sieger Köder studied chasing and silversmithing at the State Higher Technical School for Precious Metals in Schwäbisch Gmünd from 1946 to 1947 , then until 1951 painting and art history at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . His university professors included Karl Zeller (drawing), Karl Hils (works) and Hermann Sohn (painting). From 1954 to 1965 Köder was an art teacher at the Schubart-Gymnasium in Aalen . Then he began studying Catholic theology in Tübingen , in 1969 he entered the Rottenburg seminary , and in 1971 he was ordained a priest. From 1971 to 1975 he was vicar in Ulm ( St. Maria Suso ), from 1975 pastor in Hohenberg and Rosenberg . As a pupil, student and employed person he was a member of the Bund New Germany , for which he created many works, e.g. B. the illustrations for his youth songbook "The Quiver" as early as 1956. Köder was retired in 1995 and lived in Ellwangen (Jagst).
