The Heiligkreuz Hospice ( Ladin Hospiz dla Crusc , Italian Rifugio Santa Croce in Badia ) - also Heiligkreuz shelter  - is a shelter and inn in the South Tyrolean Dolomites .

Location and surroundings

The Heiligkreuz hospice is located next to the Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche below the western wall of the Heiligkreuzkofel . It is located on the territory of the Gadertal municipality of Abtei in South Tyrol , Italy . The easiest way to get there is from St. Leonhard via a chair lift that ends a little below the pilgrimage site.

The hospice is a base for climbing and hiking in the surrounding mountains. The Zehner and the Neuner belong to the closest peaks besides the Heiligkreuzkofel . You can cross the ridge towards Fanes via the Ju dla Crusc and Forcela de Medesc to the southeast .

history

The Holy Cross Hospice was in 1718 as a sacristan built -Flats and pilgrim accommodation. It has been managed by the Irsara family since 1888.

In 1988 the building was listed as a historical monument.
