Career
Heinrich August was trained by private tutors and then came to Geneva for a few years to complete his training. During his cavalier tour he visited different farms. He then entered the Saxon military service, but soon switched to Franconian. There he rose to become Feldzeugmeister and commanding general. For the empire he was appointed field marshal . He then took part in the campaign on the Rhine in 1740. With the death of his father, he and his brothers became the (co-) ruling Duke of Hohenlohe. In the Seven Years' War he was part of the Imperial Army . When the Saxons were defeated in Pirna , he was included as commandant of Leipzig . There he had to capitulate to the Prussians. Then he was interned with his family in Magdeburg . Even a daughter was born there. After the Peace of Hubertusburg he returned to Ingelfingen.
