August Ludwig Diemer

Heinrich August Christian Ludwig Diemer (born August 12, 1774 in Milkel , today in Radibor , † July 26, 1855 in Rostock ) was a German legal scholar.

Life

After August Ludwig Diemer had attended the Kreuzschule in Dresden , he enrolled at the University of Wittenberg in 1793 , where he obtained the degree of master's degree in 1796 . In Wittenberg he also devoted himself to theological studies. Then he went back to Dresden, where he passed his exam to become a candidate for a ministry position.

Diemer became a private tutor in Meißen , accompanied his protégés to the University of Leipzig , where he himself began studying law in 1797. Here he worked as secretary and senior of the Upper Lusatia-Wendish preacher college . When he had obtained the baccalaureate in law there, he first became a lawyer in Dresden, then again in Leipzig and completed his habilitation at the Leipzig Academy at Easter 1802.

August Ludwig Diemer received his doctorate in law on December 16, 1802, and in 1806 was appointed an extraordinary professor at the law faculty. After he became consistorial assessor in 1808, he accepted a call to the University of Rostock as a full professor in 1819 and thus became Mecklenburg-Schwerin consistorial advisor. In this role he worked until the end of his life.

Diemer was a member of the Leipzig Freemason Lodge Apollo , where he was Master of the Chair in 1807 .
