Heinrich Biberli (* before 1374 in Zurich ; † between 1422 and 1425 there ) was the first bailiff of the Zurich bailiff Greifensee from 1403 and an important official of the city of Zurich in the early 15th century.

life and work

Heinrich Biberli was probably the only child of the city councilor Werner Biberli and Anna Schwend. Between 1399 and 1401 he married Katharina, daughter of Rudolf Brennschink's goldsmith and also a councilor in Zurich . Katharina and Biberli had two daughters together. Anna is known by name, who married Peter Kilchmatter. Peter was the son of Rudolf II Kilchmatter ("the younger"); At that time the richest citizen of the city of Zurich, owner of the iron mines in Flums and councilor of Constaffel from 1393 to 1413.

1402 was the city of Zurich, the rule Greifensee as a pledge , and in 1403 Henry Biberli was the Grand Council of the City of Zurich for the first Governor appointed. His annual income to 50 pounds - probably under Carolingian coin standard in Silver à 240 pennies ( denarii ) - amounted, so Biberli but also three servants (probably mercenaries respectively bailiffs had) to reward. His official seat was Greifensee Castle .

Already in 1390 and 1411 Heinrich Biberli was in office as Vogt in Opfikon (the Vogtei passed to the family of his son-in-law), in 1413/1415 and 1422 Landvogtei of Horgen (probably the upper bailiwick of the same name) and in Rüschlikon , in 1418 of Pfäffikon and Wollerau (probably only a few Höfe in Pfäffikon and Wollerau and today's Höfe district ), 1420 from Maschwanden (probably the upper bailiwick of the same name).

Biberli also held other offices in the city of Zurich: from 1401 to 1412 he was tax collector, from 1411 and 1413 to 1422 councilor of the Constaffel , 1415 sack master and 1416 Sihlwald master . From 1418 to 1422, Heinrich Biberli represented the interests of the Zurich state as envoy and was an arbitrator at the Swiss Federal Diet .
