Rudolf Heinrich Burnitz (born February 18, 1827 in Frankfurt am Main ; † November 13, 1880 in Frankfurt am Main) was a German architect . He was the son of the Frankfurt architect Rudolf Burnitz and the cousin of the Frankfurt painter Peter Burnitz .

Life

He was born as the son of the architect Rudolf Burnitz in Frankfurt, studied there and, after completing his training, continued his training with Friedrich August Stüler in Berlin and Heinrich Hübsch in Karlsruhe (while building the theater there). The study stay in Italy from 1853 to 1855 was followed by the conversion of the city theater, the construction of the sales halls, the Petersschule (1859–1860), the hall (1861) and the building of the Polytechnic Society in Frankfurt am Main.

He was buried in the family grave, An der Mauer 516, in the Frankfurt main cemetery.

Honor

The city of Frankfurt am Main names a street in the Sachsenhausen district in Burnitzstraße in honor of the architect of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in the Italian Renaissance style.
