The first hall building

The SAALBAU Betriebsgesellschaft mbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the housing group ABG Frankfurt Holding and, according to its statutes, has the task of "... constructing a building with a large festival and concert hall including the associated localities, and closing these rooms for concerts, balls, exhibitions, etc." to rent."

history

On January 12, 1859 , a "Provisional Committee for the Formation of a Saalbau-Actiengesellschaft" published a press release . The "Saalbau-Actiengesellschaft" was established in 1861 . In the same year the first hall was opened in Junghofstrasse, designed by the architect Rudolf Heinrich Burnitz . This first room was used until it was destroyed in 1944 .

After the end of the war, the communalized AG was converted into a GmbH .

As the first city in Germany Frankfurt opened in 1959 a new community center , then more followed in the various districts. As a replacement for the Volkshaus Riederwald, which was destroyed in the Second World War, Saalbau GmbH built the “Haus Riederwald” in 1963. This town house no longer exists, however, because it was demolished in 1999 to make room for residential buildings, a restaurant and a small city library.

Saalbau GmbH now manages around 30 locations. Saalbau GmbH has been part of the ABG Frankfurt Holding housing group since 2007 .
