Heinrich Dammann

Heinrich Dammann (born September 3, 1924 in Söhlde ; † March 27, 2013 ) was a German entrepreneur and local politician.

Life

In 1946 Dammann joined the CDU , in 1948 he became a council member and community director of the Söhlder local government. Until 1996 he was a council member. From 1952 to 1960 he was a member of the district committee of the Lower Saxony rural community assembly.

In 1955 Dammann founded the United Kreidewerke Dammann KG , which currently has factories in Söhlde, Lägerdorf ( Schleswig-Holstein ) and Klementelvitz on Rügen ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ).

His wife had the rare Old High German given name Ortrud (1924-2014).

In 1991 the Dammann couple founded the Heinrich Dammann Foundation to promote church and secular youth work with 100,000 DM . In the following years they increased the foundation's assets considerably. The foundation is one of the largest church foundations in Germany that promote youth work.
