Heinrich Ernst Boeters (born May 14, 1850 in Wernigerode , † October 19, 1932 in Görlitz ) was a German surgeon and founder of a clinic in Görlitz.

Life

family

Boeters was a son of Luise Röhrig and her husband Heinrich Ernst Boeters, pastor in Wernigerode and Nordhausen , later superintendent in Gommern . He married Margarethe Kunze, daughter of a factory owner from Halle, in Halle (Saale) on August 5, 1879 . The marriage had eight children, including the lawyer and writer Karl Friedrich Borée (1886–1964). Boeters died in Görlitz on October 19, 1932.

Medical career

After graduating from high school in 1870, he studied medicine in Würzburg under Albert von Kölliker , in Berlin and Halle , where he received his doctorate in 1875. med. PhD. As a junior physician, he completed a voluntary military year. He then worked for two years as an assistant doctor at the Friedrichshain Municipal Hospital in Berlin. In 1879 he settled in Görlitz and in 1882 set up a clinic there on a hotel floor. With financial support from his father-in-law, he had Ludwig Gock build a clinic from 1883–1885 according to his own ideas, which was expanded in 1892. Boeters was awarded the title of Privy Medical Council. After his death, the clinic passed to his son Oscar, who was expropriated after 1945. The former clinic building, Konsulplatz No. 3 in Görlitz, is still popularly called “Boeterssche Klinik” today.
