Gottfried Gengler

Heinrich Gottfried Philipp Gengler (born July 25, 1817 in Bamberg ; † November 28, 1901 in Erlangen ) was a German legal historian , privy councilor and university professor in Erlangen .

Gengler studied at the Universities of Würzburg and Heidelberg . In 1842 he received his doctorate in Erlangen and completed his habilitation a year later. In 1847 he became associate professor and finally in 1851 a full professor of German law . His son was the ornithologist Josef Gengler .
