Heinrich Hagleitner

Heinrich Hagleitner (born February 2, 1889 in Kirchberg near Linz , † February 9, 1935 in Schönering ) was an Austrian Roman Catholic pastor and high school professor of music , composer and local history researcher .

Life

After studying theology and being ordained a priest, Heinrich Hagleitner celebrated his primacy on July 27, 1913 . Between 1917 and 1926 he taught singing, music, gymnastics and religion at the Petrinum in Linz . There he discovered and taught the composer Josef Kronsteiner . He was also a member of the Linz “Diocesan Commission for Church Music”. Hagleitner was a secular priest and from January 31, 1927 was pastor of the community of Schönering. He was buried there too.

He composed church music and wrote works for organ and choir , including a nine-part Ave Maria and a Tantum ergo , and he also composed songs for piano and flute . The Ave Maria is lost. For the composer and church musician Hermann Kronsteiner , he was “an outstanding musician with a magnificent voice and considerable compositional activity” .

Hagleitner published the book Die Altpfarre Schönering zum St. Stephan, the arch-martyr and several local history essays.
