Josef Kronsteiner

Josef Kronsteiner (also Joseph Kronsteiner ; born February 15, 1910 in Losenstein , † May 15, 1988 in Linz ) was an Austrian Roman Catholic clergyman and church musician . He was particularly active as a composer , cathedral music director and was a professor at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz.

Josef Kronsteiner was the brother of Hermann Kronsteiner . Since 1943 Domkapellmeister in Linz, Kronsteiner was also a lecturer at the Linz seminary and member of the Linz diocesan commission for church music . As a priest he worked at the Minorite Church in Linz and as an opponent of the liturgical reform he continued to celebrate the Tridentine Mass . Joseph Kronsteiner was cathedral music director in Linz for 38 years. The Kronsteiner brothers were also on friendly terms with Joseph Ratzinger and Georg Ratzinger .
