Georg Hans Karl Wennemar von Carnap , from 1865 von Carnap-Quernheimb (born September 16, 1826 in Neuruppin , † April 15, 1910 in Berlin-Friedenau ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

He came from the noble family of Carnap and was the son of the Prussian major general and landowner Carl von Carnap (1790–1869) and Charlotte von Quernheimb (1788–1878).

Military career

Carnap attended high school in his hometown and was then a cadet in Potsdam and Berlin . On August 10, 1843, he was transferred to the 23rd Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a characterized Portepeefähnrich .

In 1865 Carnap served as a captain in the 4th Upper Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 63 . On April 10 of the same year in Berlin he received the Prussian approval for the association of names and coats of arms with those of Quernheimb .

From 1876 to 1878 he was in command of the 3rd Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 71 . This was followed by a position as commander of the 5th East Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 41 , until Carnap was promoted to major general on June 11, 1882, commander of the 44th Infantry Brigade . On September 26, 1883 he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves.

Carnap was put up for disposition on July 6, 1886, and was given the character of Lieutenant General .

family

Carnap married on October 2, 1856 in Neisse Marie Holzheimer (born September 8, 1837 in Posen , † July 17, 1918 in Kassel ), the daughter of the royal Prussian government councilor Eduard Holzheimer and Antonie Eisengraeber. From this marriage came five sons and finally a daughter, including the Africa explorer Ernst von Carnap-Quernheimb .
