Heinrich Hubmann

Heinrich Hubmann (born April 21, 1915 in Floß near Weiden in the Upper Palatinate ; † September 6, 1989 in Erlangen ) was a German lawyer and university professor .

Live and act

Hubmann, the son of a farmer, studied law and economics in Munich from 1935 after graduating from high school in Weiden , where he was accepted into the Maximilianeum Foundation . His examination for a degree in economics took place in 1938. A year later he passed his first state examination in law. After participating in the Second World War, he completed his legal clerkship, which he completed in 1947 with the second state examination. In 1948 , Hubmann did his doctorate on a subject of stock corporation law under civil lawyer Alfred Hueck . In 1952 he qualified as a professor at Hueck with the work “Das Personalitysrecht”, which was first published in 1953 and a second edition in 1967. Hubmann then initially taught as a private lecturer in Munich and Frankfurt a. M., before he was offered a chair for civil law, commercial law, international private law, copyright, industrial property protection and legal philosophy at the University of Erlangen in 1956 . In 1983 he retired.

In addition to his work as a university lecturer, Hubmann worked as an expert for the University Association for Copyright and Publishing Law, as a member of the Expert Committee for Copyright at the Federal Ministry of Justice and as a member of the Expert Committee for Copyright of the German UNESCO Commission. He was involved in the creation of the collecting society for science and its association with the collecting society Wort , of which he was an honorary member of the board.

Hubmann's writings deal with questions of civil law , commercial law and international private law, in particular with intellectual property law and copyright law .

In recognition of his scientific work, Hubmann is characterized as an "outstanding researcher and teacher of civil law". His habilitation thesis “made a major contribution to breaking the ground for the protection of personality”. Hubmann was "one of the most important German copyright scholars in the second half of the 20th century".

On his 70th birthday, Hubmann was honored with a commemorative publication ( Contributions to the Protection of Personality and Your Creative Achievements , edited by Hans Forkel and Alfred Kraft, Frankfurt a. M. 1985).
