Heinrich II. (Oldenburg)
Heinrich II. Von Oldenburg († 1197 at Caesarea ) was Count von Wildeshausen from 1167 . His parents were Heinrich I von Oldenburg , the founder of the Wildeshausen line of the Oldenburg Count House and Salome von Geldern-Zütphen, the daughter of Count Gerhard II.
In 1167, Heinrich II succeeded his father in the government. He submitted to Heinrich the Lion and became ducal administrator for the expelled cousins in Oldenburg and Vogt of the Rastede family monastery .
Heinrich feuded Frisians and neighbors and, together with his wife's brothers, took part in the army of Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa in the Third Crusade , from which he returned in 1192. From 1197 he accompanied Hartwig II of Bremen on Heinrich VI's crusade. who in turn led him to the Holy Land . On this crusade he died in 1197 near Caesarea Maritima .
Marriage and children
He married Beatrix von Loccum-Hallermund, daughter of Count Wilbrand I. von Loccum-Hallermund . He had the following children with her:
- Henry III. (⚔ May 27, 1234), Count von Wildeshausen and Bruchhausen ∞ Ermtrud von Schoten-Breda, daughter of Count Heinrich II. Von Breda
- Wilbrand († 1233), Bishop of Paderborn (1211–1233) and Utrecht (1227–1233)
- Egilmar († 1217 in the Holy Land ), Canon of Münster and Provost of Friesland
- Burchard (⚔ July 6, 1233), Count von Wildeshausen and Bruchhausen ∞ Kunigunde von Schoten-Breda, daughter of Count Heinrich II. Von Breda. He was Count von Wildeshausen from 1199 to 1233.
