Heinrich Jarczyk (born January 18, 1925 in Neisse , Upper Silesia Province ) is a German scientist, draftsman and painter.

Life

Heinrich J. Jarczyk grew up as the fourth child in the middle-class household of the married couple Isidor Paul Jarczyk (student at the state humanistic high school " Carolinum ") and Hedwig Jarczyk, née. Matuskiewicz (graduate of the secondary school for girls ) from Sprottau . Literature, music and art shaped his childhood and youth in Neisse .

In 1943 he obtained his Abitur at the Carolinum . Heinrich Jarczyk learned to draw as part of the class . On the day of his Abitur, on March 15, 1943, he was drafted into labor service and then into the military. As a soldier in the Wehrmacht , seriously wounded, he was taken prisoner by the Canadian Army , later in English, then in Belgian and finally in American captivity . Released from the camp in Belgium in 1947, he studied natural sciences at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and attended lectures in art history.

In 1952 he was promoted to Dr. rer. nat. PhD . From 1953 to 1987 Jarczyk worked in research (including at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry and at Bayer AG ). Jarczyk has written more than 50 scientific publications. Long professional stays took him to South America and Egypt.

After his retirement he devoted himself exclusively to his artistic work, in addition to etchings and graphics, mainly painting in oil.

Before German reunification , his works had been shown in West Germany and West Berlin , Belgium , France , Italy , South Korea and the United States in more than 50 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions since 1982 . Since then they have also been exhibited in Silesia and Mali . The House of Silesia has integrated its picture of the fall of the Berlin Wall in the special exhibition on the Kreisau Circle .

Jarczyk lives in Bergisch Gladbach .
