Heinrich Joseph Himioben , often also Heinrich Himioben (also Josef ; born January 19, 1807 in Mainz , † December 27, 1860 ibid) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman , theologian and publicist .

Life

Himioben attended high school in Mainz . He then went to study theology at the University of Bonn and the Mainz seminary . He was ordained priest on December 18, 1830. He then worked as a chaplain and pastor in various places in the diocese of Mainz . On January 1, 1834, he returned to Mainz, where he became sub-rain and economist at the local seminary. The zealous pastor was given the parish of St. Christoph in Mainz in 1843 and was appointed cathedral capitular at Mainz Cathedral in 1857 .

Himioben is considered to be a representative of the Mainz district and was active as a journalist in this sense. From 1842 until his death in 1860 he also edited the Catholic Sunday Gazette . He is considered a staunch opponent of German Catholicism .
