Heinrich Maul

Heinrich Maul (born September 13, 1935 in Lübeck ) was a judge at the German Federal Court of Justice from 1979 to 2000 .

After studying law in Mainz and completing his legal training, Maul joined the judicial service of the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1963 as a court assessor , where he worked as a judge at the Baden-Baden District Court and the Karlsruhe Regional Court .

Maul worked for the Federal Chancellery between 1971 and 1973 . He then returned to the judicial service with a promotion to the Higher Regional Court Council and took up his judicial office at the Higher Regional Court in Karlsruhe .

Elected to judge at the Federal Court of Justice in 1979, Maul was assigned to the 1st Criminal Senate by its Presidium , to which he was a member until his retirement on September 30, 2000, and since 1982 also as Deputy Chairman. In 1996 he failed with a competitor lawsuit with which he wanted to force his promotion to presiding judge at the Federal Court of Justice after Gerhard Schäfer was preferred to him . Since leaving the BGH, Dr. Maul works as a criminal defense attorney in the law firm Ferner & Kollegen (Karlsruhe-Heidelberg-Koblenz).

In addition to his judicial office, Heinrich Maul was also active in local politics and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the Karlsruhe municipal council, of which he was a member from 1980 to 2014.

The NDR documentary 45 Min - The New Power of Rockers reported on a YouTube video in which Maul said in an interview with the press spokesman for the Hells Angels that he thought the assessment that the Hells Angels belonged to organized crime was wrong ; he criticized a police raid on a Hells Angels meeting, which also affected him. He had previously represented Hells Angels members as a lawyer.
