Heinrich Mosler-Pallenberg

Heinrich Mosler-Pallenberg (born August 2, 1863 in Cologne , † June 30, 1893 in Vienna ) was a German portrait and history painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Mosler, son of the Royal Prussian confectioner Anton Mosler (1834–1888) and his wife Anna, née Pallenberg (1836–1894), a daughter of the Cologne furniture manufacturer Heinrich Pallenberg , grew up in Cologne, where the father ran a pastry shop in the third generation. After completing school, Mosler attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1881 to 1885 . There Andreas Müller , Heinrich Lauenstein and especially Peter Janssen the Elder and Wilhelm Sohn were his teachers. Study trips took Mosler to the great galleries of his time, to the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain and Great Britain, where he was particularly interested in the painting of the Old Masters . He participated in national and international exhibitions in Berlin , Vienna and Munich . He received honorable mentions at the Berlin academic art exhibition in 1887 and at the Berlin international art exhibition in 1891. In 1888 he appeared with the allegory of Resignation, in 1889 with the portrait of the Archbishop of Cologne, Philipp Cardinal Krementz .

He was buried in the grave of the Mosler family in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (HWG, between Lit.B + C).
