Heinrich Reifferscheid (art historian)

Heinrich Reifferscheid (born August 20, 1884 in Greifswald , † July 14, 1945 in Neustadt in Holstein ; full name: August Wilhelm Walter Alexander Heinrich Reifferscheid ) was a German art historian .

Life

Heinrich Reifferscheid was born as the son of the Germanist Alexander Reifferscheid . After attending high school, he studied art history. In 1910 he received his doctorate from the University of Greifswald . He then did an internship at the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg .

In 1914 he came back to Northern Germany, where he became a curator, deputy director and department head at the Grand Ducal Museum in Schwerin under Walter Josephi . From 1914 he became a full member of the Association for Mecklenburg History and Archeology . From 1934 he was the administrative director of the Strelitz castles and the Neustrelitz regional library .
