Heinrich Reinhardt (philosopher)

Heinrich Reinhardt (born March 14, 1947 in Freising / Bavaria ) is a German philosopher and priest. From 1998 to 2016 he was Professor of Philosophy and History of Philosophy at the Theological University in Chur .

Life

After primary school from 1953 to 1958, Heinrich Reinhardt attended the Freising Domgymnasium from 1958 to 1967, where he passed the Abitur in 1967 .

He then joined in 1967 in the seminary to Freising and studied one year at the philosophical-theological college Freising . When the Freising PTH was discontinued, he had to continue studying at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . After completing his undergraduate studies, he moved to the Philosophical Faculty, where he majored in philosophy with a master's degree .

Reinhardt has lived in Zizers in Switzerland since 1992 .

Scientific career

Reinhardt was given leave of absence from the seminary to do his doctorate and received his doctorate in philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilians University in 1972 . During his doctoral studies, he received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation .

From 1972 to 1974 Reinhardt was a scientific assistant editor of the "Handbuch der Dogmengeschichte " in Eichstätt . In 1974 he re-entered the seminary in Munich and studied at the University of Munich again Catholic theology , philosophy and, moreover, even Greek at Uvo Hoelscher . At that time he dealt intensively with the philosophy of the Renaissance , wrote books and essays on the philosophy of language, etc. a. a book about Richard Wagner, so that he received a teaching position for Renaissance philosophy at the University of Munich. In 1978 he graduated in Catholic theology. From 1978 to 1980 he made a research stay at the Collegio Teutonico in Rome to continue his Renaissance research. Since then he has worked on the “ Lexicon recentis Latinitatis ”.

Alexander Thumfart judged Reinhardt's post- doctoral thesis on Giovanni Pico della Mirandola : "The theological-systematic interpretation of Pico's thought as Reinhardt presents it is - unfortunately - not up to date." Reinhardt did not consider the latest research on Cusanus, which showed that Cusanus had "developed a modern transcendental subject philosophy". Reinhardt also contradicts himself when on the one hand he describes Pico as a Thomist (p. 218), on the other hand he writes a few pages further: "Pico is no Thomist." (P. 237)

From 1989 to 1991 Reinhardt was a permanent visiting professor for systematic and historical philosophy and for Latin conversation at the St. Petrus International Seminary in Wigratzbad ( Bavaria ). In 1991 he was appointed head of studies at the preparatory seminar for Chur candidates for priesthood, "Lauretanum", in Zizers .

After his ordination as a priest in 1992 for the diocese of Chur and his habilitation at the University of Regensburg , he taught at the “Lauretanum” from 1992 to 1996 in linguistic and cultural subjects. At the same time he organized the course of studies and accompanied the students spiritually. From 1993 to 1995 he represented a professor , from 1995 to 1998 he was associate professor and from 1998 until his retirement in 2016 he was full professor of philosophy and the history of philosophy at the Theological University in Chur .
