Heinrich "Henner" Sattler (* 1945 ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 1997 to 2014 he was mayor of the small town of Hofgeismar in North Hesse .

Life

Sattler passed the Abitur at the Goethe-Gymnasium Kassel and then studied teaching at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen from March 1966 . After joining the Hessian school service in May 1970, Sattler initially taught at the Homberg elementary school before moving to the comprehensive school in Immenhausen , where he was finally appointed secondary school teacher in 1975. After he was later employed at the vocational schools in Hofgeismar, he was transferred to the Gustav Heinemann School Hofgeismar in August 1987. There he was appointed rector and head of the secondary school branch in December 1989.

After Sattler was honorary city councilor, city councilor and parliamentary group leader of the CDU in the Hofgeismar city council from 1977 to 1996 , he was chairman of the main, finance and environmental committee of Hofgeismar from October 1995 to December 1996. He then ran for Mayor of Hofgeismar in July 1996 and won the election, just as in 2002 and 2008, with a large majority. From January 1, 2015 Markus Mannsbarth ( SPD ) will take over the mayor's office in Hofgeismar, who prevailed against Gotthard Brand ( CDU ) and Jürgen Knauf (WSD). The last projects in Sattler's tenure were the new construction of the Hofgeismar train station and the Hessentag 2015 , which took place in Hofgeismar in the summer. Sattler was appointed honorary mayor in December 2016.

criticism

Heinrich Sattler first became known nationwide in 2005 with the plans to build the largest holiday resort in Europe in the Beberbeck district of Hofgeismar . Again and again questions from the media and the population, which Sattler was able to win over for the project after many doubts, about the major project, which ultimately failed, remained unanswered. On December 17, 2010, before the Hofgeismar city council, Sattler announced that the "Ferienresort Beberbeck" project would end on December 31, 2010, as no investor was found. Due to the failure of Beberbeck, the city of Hofgeismar has to cope with a loss of three to five million euros. As a result, calls for resignation became known for the first time, to which Sattler did not respond. Thanks to the documentary film Henner's Dream - The Biggest Tourism Project in Europe by Klaus Stern , which was shot from 2005 to 2008, Beberbeck is remembered primarily as Henner's dream by the population .

Sattler received some criticism for the choice of his company car, a 5-series BMW, which was seen as a waste of tax money. In 2011 there were also allegations regarding the travel expense accounting in the town hall, as it was suspected that this had not been processed in accordance with the Hessian Travel Expenses Act. Most recently, it was announced in 2011 that Sattler is said to have locked his office during his absence, so that Günter Ebel ( SPD ), the First City Councilor and Deputy City Councilor, was unable to use the mayor's office.
