Heinrich Siefer advocates the Low German language in many ways . His advocacy of the use of Low German in care facilities is particularly well known . He advocates training of the staff in this regard, not only because access to older people and speaking to them in Low German is much easier, but primarily because Platt represents a part of the quality of life for many older people.

Siefer has been active in the Schrieverkring Weser-Ems since 1991, promotes Low German as a member of the Plattdüütsch working group in de Kark Neddersassen / Bremen at church and Catholic days and is co-editor of the magazine for Low German community work De Kennung . He is also head of the Working Group on Low German Language and Literature in the Oldenburg Landscape , spokesman for the “Section Low German and Sater Frisian ” in the Lower Saxony Homeland Association and a delegate in the Federal Council for Nedderdüütsch .

In 2015 he was awarded the Heinrich Schmidt Barrien Prize for his commitment to the Low German language .
