Heinrich Schmidt Barrien Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Heinrich Schmidt Barrien Prize is awarded to people and institutions who have made a special contribution to the preservation of the Low German language . The award takes its name from the Low German writer Heinrich Schmidt-Barrien . The Heinrich Schmidt Barrien Prize was awarded in the years 2000–2006 by the Bremer Kulturverein Freizeit 2000. The prize was not awarded in 2007, but shortly afterwards the “Dat Huus op'n Bulten” group of friends took over the award from Freizeit 2000, and the prize was awarded again in 2008. As an award, the winner receives a challenge cup in the form of a bust of the eponymous writer.
