Heinrich Schmidt-Barrien
Heinrich Schmidt-Barrien , actually Heinrich Adolf Schmidt (born January 19, 1902 in Uthlede , Cuxhaven district , † December 9, 1996 in Lilienthal near Bremen ), was a German writer and radio play speaker .
biography
Schmidt-Barrien was born the son of a Protestant pastor . He grew up in the former municipality of Barrien , now a village within Syke , and therefore later (around 1939) he had the addition of Barrien to his name . He paid literary tribute to the place and his parents' house in the book From my boyhood years .
He attended elementary school in Hamelwörden , secondary school in Freiburg / Elbe , from 1913 to 1920 the old grammar school in Bremen and from 1920 to 1921 a commercial school in Bremen. From 1921 to 1923 he completed an apprenticeship as a wholesaler and then worked as a commercial clerk in Waldenburg / Silesia . He ran a bookstore in Breslau from 1926 to 1929 . From 1932 to 1941 he headed the cultural department of Bremer Böttcherstraße . During this time, the Low German novella De Windmöller and the High German novel Ihr Kleinmütigen were written . At the Second World War he took 1941-1945 as a soldier on the eastern front and in Norway in part.
After 1945 Schmidt-Barrien lived as a freelance writer near Bremen, in Sagehorn and in Frankenburg . In 1959 he moved into a Brinkitz position in Frankenburg , which was converted into a handsome residential building. For a long time he was a dramaturge at the Niederdeutscher Theater . He worked in many associations and institutions.
Artistic creation
Schmidt-Barrien wrote in Low German and in High German . He has written novels , short stories , poetry , plays and radio plays .
In the late 1960s, Schmidt-Barrien read Wapen for 'n Koptein , Wenn de Roland sings and the so-called Döntjes by Jann Kiewitt for the speaking record series Low German Voices , which documented works by important Low German authors in linguistic sound . He also appeared frequently as a radio play speaker , for example in 1954 in Tein Jahr un dree Daag by Ivo Braak or in 1958 in Swienskummedi by August Hinrichs . He also worked on literary models for funk, such as The Chocolate Ship or St. Nicholas in Need by Felix Timmermans in 1957 (director: Hannes Krüger ).
In 1975 his complete edition came out in five volumes. Volume 5 contains essays on Bremensien entitled Altbremen; of tagbars and their environment .
