Hans Böttcher Prize
The Hans Böttcher Prize was an award given by the Alfred Toepfer Foundation FVS in Hamburg between 1960 and 1980. Authors for radio plays in Low German were honored . The prize was awarded approximately every two years and awarded to the winners as part of the series of Low German prizes.
It was named after the radio pioneer and director Hans Böttcher , who came to NORAG in 1924 and was the first to bring the works of Low German authors onto the radio stage, which were then broadcast live by the station, as there were no recording options in the early years.
In 1982 the award was merged with the Fritz Reuter Prize, along with the Richard Ohnsorg , Klaus Groth and Fritz Stavenhagen Awards . This award is a literary award for people who have made a contribution to Low German .
