Uphusen is a district of the Lower Saxon town of Achim in the Verden district .

geography

On the western edge runs A1 with the exit Uphusen / HB-Mahndorf. East of Uphusen lies the 56 hectare large nature reserve sandy dry grasslands Achim .

history

On July 1, 1972, Uphusen was incorporated into the city of Achim. During excavations as part of the construction of the NEL pipeline (“pipeline archeology”), a golden finger ring with a blue pearl from the 4th to 7th centuries was found near Uphusen.

societies

In addition to the Uphusen rifle club founded in 1920, the Uphusen gymnastics association is the only sports club in the district . This is particularly known for his soccer team, which is currently playing in the Oberliga Lower Saxony, as for his floorball team. The latter plays under the name TB Uphusen Vikings and was German champions in 2005 with the mixed team .
