Uesen is a district of the Lower Saxon town of Achim in the Verden district on the Weser . Uesen lies between the eastern district of Baden (Achim) and the core town of Achim, which adjoins it to the west.
history
In today's Uesen area (Brückenstrasse) there was an urn cemetery from the Late Bronze Age . The urns are kept in the Lower Saxony State Museum in Hanover and in the Uesen primary school. Furthermore, traces of settlement from the Saxon time have been proven, but the current location was not created until the Middle Ages.
A windmill has stood on the Geestrücken on the Weser in Uesen since the middle of the 17th century . In the middle of the 18th century, instead of the previous post mill, today's 29 m high gallery Dutchman with two floors and a thatched tower was built. The windmill was in operation until 1965 and has been a museum mill since 1969.
At the beginning of the 20th century, in the area of today's streets Am Osterfeld and Am Westerfeld , large areas of vegetable asparagus were grown on dune sand areas , which was also marketed nationwide in Bremen and northern Germany. There has been residential development on the site since the middle of the 20th century.
On July 1, 1972, Uesen was incorporated into the city of Achim.
Economy and Infrastructure
The Weser Bridge (built in 1951) is part of the important road connection L156 between Achim and Thedinghausen. The previous building from 1928 had been blown up at the end of World War II.
There is a primary school and a swimming pool in Uesen.
