Birgit Lemmermann

Birgit Lemmermann (born March 1, 1962 in Klethen , Ottendorf-Klethen municipality on the Stader Geest ) is a German high school teacher, author of Low German literature and translator.

Life

Career

Birgit Lemmermann grew up in her place of birth, Klethen. She graduated from high school in Buxtehude . She studied art and sport at the University of Kassel . In the meantime, she also trained as a potter and Waldorf school teacher.

Lemmermann had worked at the Ottersberg Waldorf School since 1991 , then at the Rotenburg (Wümme) Ratsgymnasium as a teacher for art, sport, handicrafts and Low German , where she also headed the art department. She has been working at the Aue-Geest-Gymnasium Harsefeld since 2017 .

Activity as an author

After Lemmermann's son was born in 1992, she began to write Low German books for him, as there was little Low German literature for children. As her son got older, she started publishing her books and writing new ones. She has received several awards for her work. She was awarded the Lüttjepütt Prize for the Low German youth novel Ebbe un Hehn . The novel was the Low German Book of the Year 2007.

Private

Lemmermann lived while she was working at the Ottersberg Waldorf School in Otterstedt , then for a long time in Unterstedt near Rotenburg / Wümme , but now again in Ahlerstedt. She is an assessor in the Presidium of the Institute for Low German .
