Heinrich II. Von Isny OFM (* 1222 in Isny as Heinrich Göck (h) elmann ; † 17/18 March 1288 in Hagenau ), also known as Knoderer and Belt Button, was Bishop of Basel as Heinrich IV. 1275 to 1286 when Heinrich II. 1286 to 1288 Archbishop of Mainz and Arch Chancellor of the empire under Rudolf von Habsburg .

Life

Heinrich Göckelmann was born as the son of a baker or blacksmith in Isny im Allgäu . He joined the Order of the Minorites ; Heinrich's nickname Knoderer or belt button comes from their costume. He studied in Paris and became a reading master of the Minorite Order in Basel. In 1274/75 he was the first envoy to Rudolf I when he was fighting for his election as king.

In 1275 he became Bishop of Basel, and in 1286 Archbishop of Mainz at the same time Arch Chancellor. Even during his tenure as bishop Heinrich von Isny, as a confidante of Rudolf, worked several times as envoy on his behalf.

When Rudolf I wanted to swear the Mainz country peace again for a single tribal area, Heinrich, appointed by Rudolf as chief of peace and imperial vicar of the Thuringian region , established a country peace on March 29, 1287 by the king. This mere connection to the old imperial law failed, however, and Rudolf then renewed the Peace of Mainz at the Würzburg Court Congress of 1287. Heinrich's successor as governor of the peace was the bailiff of the Wetterau , Gerlach von Breuberg .
