The Heinstermühlbach rises at an altitude of 450  m above sea level. NHN in the local area of Würzberg as Steinbächel and flows in an easterly direction.

To the north of the Schrahmühle it finally flows out at a height of 300  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the Mangelsbach .

Its 1.8 km long run ends 150 meters below its source, so it has an average bed gradient of 83 ‰.

The catchment area of ​​the Heinstermühlbach lies in the sandstone forest and is drained via the Mangelsbach, the Gabelbach, the Mud , the Main and the Rhine to the North Sea.
