Heinz-Peter Buchberger (born September 24, 1949 ) is a former German soccer player .

Player career

In his youth, Heinz-Peter Buchberger was active at Grün-Weiß Meiderich and Eintracht Duisburg , among others . At Eintracht he then played for two years in the men's area from 1968 before he moved to local rivals MSV Duisburg . He played 13 games for Eintracht Duisburg in the Football Regionalliga West in the 1968/69 season . At MSV Buchberger came under coach Rudolf Faßnacht in the Bundesliga season 1970/71 but not beyond the role of the supplementary player. Even in 1971/72 he could not fight for a regular place.

Buchberger moved to league rivals Hertha BSC for the 1972/73 season . There he was designated as a regular player under Helmut Kronsbein , but played so badly in the first game against Fortuna Düsseldorf that he was then only substituted three times.

That is why Buchberger left West Berlin after only one year and signed a contract with FC 08 Homburg . He played with the FCH in 1973/74 in the Regionalliga Südwest and was able to contribute in 23 games to Homburg qualifying as third-placed for the newly introduced 2nd Bundesliga . In 1974/75 Buchberger had a regular place there under coach Herbert Wenz , when Wenz was replaced by Uwe Klimaschefski in September 1974 , Buchberger lost this temporarily. In the final phase of the season, however, he was able to help FC Homburg secure relegation with 14th place. In 1975/76 , the FCH narrowly missed promotion with third place. However, Heinz-Peter Buchberger could not fight for a regular place in that season, so he turned his back on Homburg in 1976 .
