Heinz Hankammer (born November 4, 1931 in Breithardt ; † September 18, 2016 ) was a German entrepreneur and association official. Hankammer was the founder of the family business Brita and for many years president of the soccer club SV Wehen 1926-Taunusstein e. V. , who was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga for the 2007/08 season thanks to its sponsorship and support .

Life

Hankammer was born in Breithardt and grew up in Eltville on the Rhine . He founded Brita in 1966 with the idea of optimizing conventional tap water. Brita was named after Hankammer's daughter. With the “AquaDeMat”, the Brita company brought a product onto the market for the first time that desalinated water for use in car batteries and was initially sold at filling stations. The first table water filter for the household followed, the production of which began in 1970 in the company's garden. Heinz Hankammer registered a utility model for this table water filter and laid the foundation for the company's expansion. In 1979 Brita offered the first replaceable cartridges.

Hankammer had been on the board of SV Wehen 1926-Taunusstein e. V. active, which he supported financially and through personal ties with his company, which earned him the title " Abramowitsch vom Dorf". Initially, Hankammer was the "pleasure committee chairman", from 1980 second chairman and since 1982 chairman of the association, which has been called "president" since 2002. Since the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2007, the teams have been playing under the name SV Wehen Wiesbaden . In the summer of 2008, the licensed player department and the youth performance center (U19, U17, U16) were spun off into SV Wehen 1926 Wiesbaden GmbH on Hankammer's initiative . The application received the unreserved approval of the members at an extraordinary general meeting. 90 percent of the GmbH is held by FI Fußball Invest GmbH & Co. KG , which, like Brita, belongs to Hankammers Hanvest Holding , and 10 percent of e. V. participates, which however, according to the 50 + 1 rule, holds the majority of votes at the shareholders' meeting . At the general assembly on November 25, 2010, he did not stand for re-election and was then appointed "honorary president". Hankammer's successor as club president was his son Markus .

Before founding the Brita company, Hankammer was given a suspended sentence for fraud.

In the 1990s, Hankammer acquired the Zehnthof in Hohenstein, built by Prince August Samuel von Nassau-Idstein in 1692 . He converted the dilapidated property into a hotel complex, which is run as Hofgut Georgenthal by his children Brita and Markus.

Hankammer died on September 18, 2016 at the age of 84. The funeral service took place in the Wiesbaden Brita-Arena , the venue of SV Wehen Wiesbaden .

family

Hankammer's children Brita (* 1965) and Markus (* 1968) took over the shares in Brita. Markus followed his father as managing director of Britas and as president of SV Wehen 1926-Taunusstein e. V.
