Heinz Hofmann (classical philologist)

Heinz Hofmann (born February 5, 1944 in Regensburg ) is a German classical philologist .

Life

Hofmann studied Greek, Latin, history and philosophy at the University of Tübingen from 1963 to 1966, in Hamburg from 1966 to 1968 , and again in Tübingen from 1968 to 1971, where he completed his dissertation and was awarded a doctorate in 1972. phil. received his doctorate.

From 1971 to 1973 he was a lecturer at the Department of Classics at the University of South Africa in Pretoria , and from 1974 to 1982 research assistant at the Faculty of Linguistics and Literature at Bielefeld University . In 1979 he completed his habilitation in Classical Philology and Literary Studies. From 1982 to 1993 he was a full professor for Latin linguistics and literature at the University of Groningen . From 1993 until his retirement in August 2009 he was full professor of Latin Philology at the University of Tübingen.

Memberships

Hofmann is a member of the Comitato Scientifico dell ' Istituto Internazionale di Studi Piceni ( Sassoferrato ). From 1996 to 1999 he was a member of the graduate school “Pragmatization and De-pragmatization of Literature” and from 2001 to 2005 of the “Ars and Scientia in the Middle Ages and Early Modern Age”.
