Heinz Jansen

Heinz Jansen (* 19th April 1940 in Bochum ; † 4. June 2018 ) was a German politician of the CDU and member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

Jansen was married and had two children. He attended elementary school in Bochum and then completed a three-year apprenticeship as a lathe operator. This was followed by a job as a skilled worker in a large industrial company. Via the second educational path, he graduated from high school and then completed a degree in social work. From 1967 he worked as a social worker in youth care, youth counseling, youth education and, most recently, until his election to the state parliament in 1986, in probation service.

Heinz Jansen died on June 4, 2018 at the age of 78.

Offices

Jansen had been a member of the German Trade Union Confederation since 1955 and a member of the Christian Democratic Workforce since 1972 . He had been a member of the CDU since 1971. For many years he was deputy district chairman and from 1985 to 1997 chairman of the CDU district association in Meppen. He was a member of the Ludmillenstift hospital board of trustees, Meppen. From 1974 to 1977 he was a member of the district council of the district of Meppen , from 1977 to 1986 a district member and from 1981 to 1986 first deputy district administrator of the district of Emsland . From 1996 to 2001, in addition to his state parliament mandate, he was also honorary mayor of the city of Meppen.

From 1986 to 2001, Heinz Jansen was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament for the constituency of Meppen . There he worked mainly in the Committee for Social and Health Services. On September 23, 2001 he was elected full-time mayor of the city of Meppen with 56.7% of the vote. He therefore had to give up his mandate in the state parliament; Ulrike Schröder moved up for him . Jansen remained Mayor of Meppen until the local elections in September 2006. From 2001 to 2016 he was again an ordinary member of the city council.
