Heinz Jordan (lawyer)

Heinz Jordan (born March 17, 1933 in Waldshut ; † November 15, 2017 in Konstanz ) was a German lawyer and university professor . From 1992 to 1998 he was President of the Higher Regional Court in Karlsruhe .

Life

Heinz Jordan grew up in Waldshut as the son of a bricklayer foreman. After graduating from high school, he initially embarked on a career as an inspector as an administrative officer before, after two years, began studying law at the University of Freiburg , which he continued at the University of Munich . After passing the legal state examination and doctorate, he joined the Baden-Württemberg judicial service in 1962 . He was a judge at the Waldshut-Tiengen regional court and a consultant at the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Justice. In 1973 he returned to the Waldshut regional court, promoted to regional court director. In 1975 he was promoted to head of the public prosecutor's office in Waldshut. In July 1984 Jordan became President of the District Court of Constance . On January 22, 1992, he was appointed President of the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court. As such, he retired in late March 1998.

In 1991 Jordan was appointed judge at the State Court of Baden-Württemberg , and in 1996 he was appointed its deputy chairman. He held this position until 2000.

In May 1993 Jordan became honorary professor for criminal law and criminal procedure law at the University of Konstanz , where he had been a lecturer since 1976 .

Jordan had been a legal assessor at the State Professional Court for Doctors since 1981, and its chairman since 1996.
