Heinz Kochs

Heinz Kochs (born August 11, 1929 in Röbel / Müritz ) is a former German politician ( SED ). He was Lord Mayor of Rostock from 1968 to 1975 .

Life

Heinz Koch was the son of a self-employed craftsman born and graduated after attending the elementary school one electrician apprenticeship. He then worked as an electrician. In 1948 he joined the SED. From 1951 to 1954 he studied at the engineering schools in Wismar and Mittweida , graduating as an electrical engineer. After working for VEB Starkstromanlagenbau Rostock from 1954 to 1958, where Kochs last worked as technical director, he became secretary for economics in the SED district management Rostock-Stadt in 1959 . After studying social sciences at the party college of the CPSU in Moscow from 1962 to 1965, from which he graduated as a social scientist, Kochs was department head for economic policy in the Rostock SED district leadership from 1965 to 1968 . Initially a candidate in 1967, Kochs was a member of the Rostock SED district leadership from 1968. In 1968 he succeeded Rudi Fleck as Lord Mayor of Rostock. After leaving in 1975, Heinz Kochs was first secretary of the SED district leadership in Rostock-Stadt and a member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership Rostock until 1988.
