Heinz Sagner (born February 1, 1933 in Reichenberg , Czechoslovak Republic , † November 3 or 4, 2006 in Munich ) was a German pop singer of the 1950s and 1960s.

Life

Sagner was born in Reichenberg, South Africa ; his family fled with him to Bavaria after the Second World War . The son of a pharmacist, he studied in Würzburg Pharmacy ; he completed his studies in 1958. There he became a member of the university choir Barden zu Würzburg. He sang on the side and won a young talent competition in 1956. As a singer he was now working for the Munich record label Starlet , where he saw "more of a hobby than a main occupation". For the label he produced cover versions of songs by Freddy , Gerhard Wendland and others. Many of his recordings have been published under pseudonyms (including: Nico Busch, Thomas Heger, Bernd Rosen, Bernd Barner, Ludwig Deinert) on other cheap labels. In addition, recordings that he had produced together with two singers from the trio Die Isarspatzen were published under the name Sagner Trio . In 1960 Polydor signed him. His single Das alten Märchen - a cover of the song The Old Lamplighter by The Browns - brought him headlines, but was not able to place in the charts despite strong advertising.

This year Sagner was appointed to the singing team for the Knokke Song Festival in July together with Hannelore Auer , Inge Brandenburg , Frank Forster and Udo Jürgens . In the seaside resort on the Belgian coast, he sang the two tracks Sie was not older than 18 years' and On the Street Where You Live . With the victory of the German team, he achieved his greatest success as a singer. His recording of ' Sie Was Not Older Than 18' can be heard in the 1961 film Schlagerparade . In February 1961 he also took part in the German preliminary round of the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson , also called the Schlager Parade . With the song Every Day Full of Sunshine , he came in sixth.

Sagner's contract with Polydor ended after eight singles and in 1962 he turned back entirely to pharmacy; He had not given up his job as a pharmacist during his singing career either. He initially ran a pharmacy in Nuremberg , and from 1967 to 1996 one in Geretsried . He was also the drummer and singer of the midlife jazz band , which also recorded a CD. In this band his son Florian took his first steps as a trumpeter; Florian Sagner now runs a recording studio in Geretsried.
