Heinz Welten (born February 2, 1876 in Dresden as Martin Philipsohn , † June 15, 1933 in Berlin ) was a German writer.

life and work

Martin Philipsohn was the son of a businessman and briefly trained in his father's company. Then he became an apprentice in a pharmacy in Chemnitz , later in Spandau . After graduating, he worked as a pharmacist's assistant in various cities for three years. He studied and passed the pharmacist state examination in Freiburg im Breisgau . After further studies in Halle and Königsberg , he became a Dr. phil. PhD . He ran a mantle factory in Livonia for two years before he returned to Germany and worked as a chemist for the Auer concern and later at a pudding powder factory. He then became an editor at a large publishing house and in 1909 he settled as a freelance writer in Berlin, where he also lectured in biology at the Humboldt University .

Heinz Welten wrote his first poems as an apprentice pharmacist. During his studies he published scientific chats in the daily press and later in collections. His first drama The Honest Name has been published but not performed. His trilogy of novels about the rise and fall of Babylon was reprinted in a bound edition in December 2004 by Voltmedia Verlag Paderborn.
